Race dates: June 12-13, 2010

Olympic Triathlon

The Olympic distance triathlon features Elite prize money and attracts some of the fastest triathletes in the West. Age groupers and elites compete together on a scenic and fast course.  Relay Team categories continue to be very popular with athletes of all ages and abilities.
     Distances: Swim 1.5km, Bike 40km, Run 10km

The Course:   As of May 30, the exact swim course has not beeen determined, due to low water at Wasa Lase. Most likely, the course will be in the north "Main Beach" bay, a one loop 750m counterclockwise course. If the water level increases by Friday June 11, then the course could be as in 2009..... The swim is a one clockwise rectangular loop starting from the Horseshoe Bay beach. Wetsuits are allowed, long sleeves recommended. The cycling leg is a flat and scenic course which starts with a clockwise loop around Wasa Lake and heads north along the Rocky Mountain Trench and the Kootenay River. The return portion of the bike course is identical to the way out, with a return to Wasa Lake Park via the south entry. The triathlon will wrap-up with 2 flat out-and-back run segments, with a cruise by the transition zone in between. To view courses, click on:
